Ice Storm

Shortly after we moved to Austin there was a horrible ice storm. We were stuck inside for days. All of the roads were closed and Chris didn't have work. It was the first test of our marriage being stuck inside with nothing to do, but unpack boxes.

Mozzarella & Penne

I asked Chris to stop by the store on his way home and pick up some mozzarella and penne so we could make dinner. He came home with this beautiful bouquet of flowers! He is the BEST husband ever!

Make a Wish

This year for Chris' birthday we went on an adventure to Enchanted Rock (see below post) and then we wandered around Fredricksburg and had some tasty fudge and Chris found this wonderful birthday hat. I also made him a chocolate cake with raspberry filling. It was delicious.

King Tut

Ever since I was little I have wanted to go to Egypt and see all things ancient Egypt. My favorite Egyptian pharaoh is none other than King Tutankhamen. I was beyond excited that there was a King Tut exhibit coming to Dallas. We had to go! It was so cool to see a lot of the artifacts you see in books up close. The detail on some of the pieces is amazing.

Heirloom Quilt

My grandma gave me this beautiful quilt when I was home over Christmas. She had been holding onto it for years. It was made by my great great grandmother. She used the childhood clothes of her kids to make the quilt. It is wonderful to have such a nice heirloom.

Zilker Kite Festival

This year there was not a whole lot of wind for the kite festival. It was beautiful weather though. The good kite flying spots in the park were closed due to some park improvements. We still had fun trying to get our kite up amongst the masses.
Details: Background paper is by Basic Grey. Kite papers are by Best Creation (thanks Noey!). Zilker was cut out using the Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge.

Enchanted Rock

We went to Enchanted Rock for Chris' birthday. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny January day. That is until we got to the mountain! It was very windy once we started our hike. There were gusts in excess of 55 mph! I thought we were going to blow away. After a couple of stops to wait for the wind to die down, we made it to the top. It was a beautiful view.
Details: Background paper, embellishments, and orange journaling block are all from SEI's oasis line. The title was cut out using the new Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge.
