Christmas Cards for 2011

My Christmas cards for this year. I decided to use stamps that I had purchased in years past. The only things I purchased were the papers to make the cards and the glitter ribbons from American Crafts. I love the way they turned out!

Introducing Howie

As we did with our previous niece and nephew, we made announcements for the newest addition to the family. We did his a little differently from the last two and I love the way they turned out. I think the handmade argyle paper really got us on the right foot making these.

The envelopes and the outside of the card.
 All of the components.
The inside. I think they are so cute!

December Daily - Day seventeen

We spent hours out in the only sun we've had this month, enjoying the once again flowing falls. Then we spent the evening at Pete's trail of lights and driving around looking at lights.

No Sew Superhero Cape

I made a superhero cape for my nephew Max for his fourth birthday. I hope he loves it!

I followed this tutorial, but I made a few changes. I started with a piece of felt that was 18x36 inches. I wanted it to be longer than the cape in the tutorial. I also rounded the bottom corners. Then I cut out an "M" for Max using my Cricut machine. The only other thing I did differently was sew my velcro on for added strength, I know how hard kids pull things apart ;).

December Daily - Day two

Today we went out in the cold rain to pick out our very first real Christmas tree. Since we aren't going back to Illinois for Christmas, we get to partake in the piney goodness.

December Daily - Day one

I got suckered in to December daily by my friend Christina. Now to see if I can actually keep up with it. I do like the idea of sneaking in a few crafty moments each day, but loathe taking, printing, and planning pictures everyday. As you can see from my day one page, the photos are iphone randoms. I might need some cheering on to keep this up :)

Details: Paper is from My Mind's Eye's 12 Days of Christmas line. I plan to use the entire 6x6 paper pad I bought of this line. 25 days countdown tag is from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Sunken Gardens

During our trip to Tampa, FL last November for a friend's wedding, we visited the beautiful Sunken Gardens.

Details: On this layout I tried something new for me. I stitched like crazy. I used my SewEasy tool and mat to pierce the holes for the zig zag pattern. And then I stitched for hours.

Coral paper is Flamingo Lily by Core'dinations. Grey swirls are the B side of a paper called Text Me from the Midterm line by Bella Blvd. Chiplets are by SEI and are part of their On The Coast line. Mini letters are from the Line Twist line by My Mind's Eye.

House Hunting

Sorry the colors are wonky on these pictures! That's what happens when you are a bad blogger and are trying to catch up on a lot of stuff.

Back in February, when we were house hunting, my sister was with us when we put an offer in on a house our first time. These pictures are what she snapped after when she said "look excited". It was quite the roller coaster journey.

Pet Me I'm Irish

This year Luna decided to sport her Irish pride on St. Patrick's Day.

Details: Both papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle's Lucky Me collection. The canvas title and clovers are also from the Lucky Me collection. Glad I finally got to use these papers, I won them forever ago at Archiver's.

Congo River Putt Putt

No vacation is complete without playing a round of miniature golf. The place we went to in Tampa, Congo River, had live gators throughout the course! You could feed the gators if you wanted to. As usual, I lost.

Details: Paper is Country Fields from the One Fall Day line by Bella Blvd. Journaling circle is by October Afternoon. Letters are Thickers by American Crafts.

Adam & Beth

This past November we were able to join Adam & Beth on their wedding day in Tampa, FL. They had the cutest boutonnieres made out of vintage buttons! The table numbers were also vintage buttons! It was so cute. And I loved their chocolate brown, orange and green color scheme. We had a blast, right down to the after party at Bahama Breeze.

Details: Woodgrain paper is by Hambly. Hexagon paper is Botanique Pearl by American Crafts. Green floral paper is City Park - Greenbelt Gardens by American Crafts. Felt flower clips are from Making Memories's Paperie collection in greenhouse. Buttons are by Scenic Route and orange thread in by We R Memory Keepers.

Chihuly in Tampa

Last November we visited the Morean Arts Center in Tampa, FL to see the only permanent Chihuly gallery. Sadly, they wouldn't let you take pictures. They had some amazing chandeliers, sea horses, and spheres. You should really check it out. I even purchased my own tiny Chihuly. We then went across the street to soak up the park and bay.

Details: Paper is Stillness from SEI's Moonrise collection. Letters are by Making Memories.

Golden birthday bash

I am having a party the end of October to celebrate my golden birthday (turning 29 on the 29th) instead of my usual Halloween party. I hope its a blast. I will share party decor pictures as they are done.

Details: Paper is Orange Sorbet from Bazzill Basics' Two Scoops line. Lantern stamps are from American Crafts' Terrace collection. "you're invited" stamp is by Hero Arts.

Cookie Exchange

This last Christmas I decided to host a cookie exchange. My friend Ashley brought every guest a sugar cookie Christmas tree. They were amazing. I made chocolate chip cookies, sugared cranberries, chocolate covered pretzels and brownie covered oreos. Yum!

Details: Red paper is Berries from the Wintertime line by Echo Park. Snowflake paper is Falling Snowflakes from the same Echo Park line.

Turkey Ball

I love to make cheese balls. People love to eat my cheese balls. Some people even go so far as to request one whenever they see me. I decided this year I was going to make one as an appetizer for Thanksgiving. I thought it would be more festive if it looked like a turkey (I have been known to make a snowman around Christmas time). It was so great, even though I got made fun of for my creativity, that I decided to scrap it.

Details: Orange paper is Marigold by Bazzill Basics. Leaf and green paper are the A&B sides of Changing Leaves from the Apple Cider collection by Imaginisce. Leaf stickers are from the same line.
